I used to hate to conforming to standards, I hated being apart of the trends and "doing what everyone else is doing," but clearly, I grew out of that. I too, like the majority of people my age switch to an iPhone. I never knew how to used them. Having a Android phone seemed "cooler" to me. Being able to customize my features was something I preferred, rather than having the same set up the as everyone else. So, why did I switch?
Thoes were the questions that were rattling my brain, after being inside one of the coolest places in the city for only a few moments. Samsung 836, was were trends, culture, and technology had been mixed together as way to show off the latest and greatest . It felt like an arcade, that was filled with real life gadgets. We came in, and saw how it was all possible. Then got to play, and learn about the high teach features that Samsung has, and the opportunity that they provide to their consumers.
A prompt we were given in Create and Innovate class was, "how did we think something like this could be used in advertising." I would say, more stores with a diverse product line should have a set up like Samsung 837. Advertising is best and most effective if it can go after any of the customer's five senses. This space, hit three of my five senses. Sight, sound, and of course touch. Generally speaking, being able to touch the products, I would say, was no different than seeing and playing with a new phone at the Verizon store or the Apple Store. What gives Samsung 837 that extra step, was strategically placing the phones and gadgets in many locations around the building. They were are set up so that you were learning a new features and use that feature in real time, rather than just being told that the product has a new feature and can do "x,y, and z." I can see more industries creating spaces like this. To me this type of product placement was "how will this product fit in my life?" Also, consistently making me think of how I could use these products in my life and making me question why I own the products I do when there are better products out there.
